Liu Yao.
Six Lines, Deeper Detail.
Liu Yao (六爻), also called Six Lines or Wen Wang Gua, uses a six-line hexagram together with moving lines, Na Jia branches, Self and Response, the Six Relatives, and the calendar to examine one focused question in greater detail.
Traditional systems vary by lineage. This calculator makes its rules visible rather than hiding them behind a generic prediction.
Ask One Clear Question
The question determines what the chart should examine. It does not change the coin cast.
🔒 Your question stays in this browser and is not sent to Google Analytics.
Health & Well-being readings use traditional symbolic roles for reflection only — never for diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, or deciding whether to seek care.
More Than a Hexagram Name
This page uses a Na Jia / Six Lines structure. The six coin lines create a primary hexagram. Moving lines create the transformed hexagram. The primary chart is then fitted with Eight Palace, Na Jia branches, Six Relatives, Self/Response, Six Spirits, and calendar relationships.
1. Six Lines
Three coins are cast six times from the bottom line upward. 6 and 9 are moving lines; 7 and 8 are static.
2. Primary → Changed
Moving lines flip yin/yang to create a transformed hexagram, showing where the situation is actively changing.
3. Self & Response
The chart marks the Self line (世) and Response line (应) to compare the questioner with the other party or external situation.
4. Useful Spirit
The question selects the relevant Six Relative — for example Wealth for money or Officer/Ghost for career — rather than treating every line equally.
Liu Yao Deep Reading
Does my question change the coin results?
No. The digital cast is generated independently. Your question and category only tell the engine which line relationships should be treated as most relevant.
Is the digital cast the same probability as three coins?
Yes. The automatic mode generates three independent two-sided coin results for each of six lines. This produces the traditional 6/7/8/9 three-coin distribution. You can also toss your own physical coins and enter the six totals.
What does the engine actually analyze?
Primary and transformed hexagrams, moving lines, Eight Palace membership, Na Jia stems and branches, Six Relatives, Self/Response, Six Spirits, the solar-month branch, day stem-branch, void branches, generation/control, combinations and clashes, and the target line selected by the question.
Why can two people get different readings from the same hexagram?
In Liu Yao, the hexagram name is only one layer. Different moving lines, calendar conditions, Self/Response positions, target lines and branch relationships can change the practical interpretation.
How are health questions handled?
For a self-health question, the engine treats the Self line (世) as the person, examines Officer/Ghost (官鬼) as traditional illness pressure and Children (子孙) as a traditional relief/medicine indicator. These are symbolic divination roles only. The site will not diagnose disease, predict death or recovery, recommend medication, or tell you whether medical care is necessary.
Is Liu Yao proven to predict the future?
No. It is a traditional divination practice, not a scientifically validated forecasting method. Use the reading for cultural exploration and reflection rather than as a substitute for evidence or professional advice.
